Garrett J. Delehanty Jr.

Garrett J. Delehanty, Jr. has a national real estate practice. He regularly represents some of the most prominent national banks and insurance companies in their origination of capital markets and portfolio mortgage loans throughout the country.  He also represents pension fund advisors in their secured borrowings from agency and institutional lenders, while maintaining an active practice in hotel, retail, office, industrial, multifamily and other commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions.  Garrett has extensive experience in matters relating to the hospitality industry, including acquisitions, sales, financing, hotel management and franchising.  He has lectured and published articles on matters relating to real estate, hotel and investment law, and has served on several law reform advisory committees.

Garrett joined the Firm in 1999.  He was formerly an associate and partner in a major Los Angeles firm (1976-85), the senior real estate counsel for Days Inns of America, Inc. (1985-88), of counsel to a real estate boutique in Atlanta (1988-89), in-house counsel for the real estate and hotel portfolios of Aetna, Inc. (1990-96), and a member of Hebb & Gitlin, P.C. (1996-99).

Garrett received his B.A., cum laude, from Wesleyan University in 1973, and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, in 1976.  He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and remains a member, on inactive status, of the California and Georgia bars.

A resident of Simsbury, Connecticut, where he formerly served multiple terms on the Zoning Commission, Garrett is married and has a grown daughter.
