Eric W. Johnson has a breadth of experience handling real estate transactions and problem investments (both in and out of bankruptcy) for developers, financial institutions, and other investors and users of real estate projects. His practice is national in scope, and his experience includes many multi-state and multi-national projects. Clients have frequently called on Eric to counsel them in matters relating to the hospitality industry.
Eric joined the firm in 2000, after many years as a partner in the Hartford-based international firm Hebb & Gitlin, P.C. and then as a partner in the Hartford office of Bingham Dana, LLP, into which Hebb & Gitlin merged in 1999. While at Hebb & Gitlin, Eric served as head of the firm’s Real Estate Department. Prior to joining Hebb & Gitlin, he was an associate in the Stamford office of Cummings & Lockwood.
Eric is a 1974 honors graduate of the University of Nebraska. He received his J.D. in 1977 from Cornell Law School, where he was an editor of the Cornell International Law Journal.
Eric has served as an adviser to the Connecticut Law Revision Commission and has published several articles in national legal publications.
